If you're new to the whole Battlefield Heroes concept, allow us to bring you up to speed. Battlefield Heroes is a free cartoon-style shooter for the PC where you crate, customise and level up your own war hero."

The next round of free-to-play multiplayer shooter Battlefield Heroes's closed beta is set to open soon. Interested players can now head over to the game's official website to sign up for a chance to be selected.

Planet Battlefield writes: "If you are one of the people from the last Battlefield Heroes beta phase you can now login here and start playing the next phase of the beta. You will need to re-download the updated installer.

If you are not currently in the beta you can sign up here if you haven't already."

If you never managed to get a beta key for Battlefield Heroes, it doesn't matter anymore. DICE revealed today that the free-to-play multiplayer shooter has begun its open beta.

Electronic Arts today announced that Battlefield Heroes, the unique Play 4 Free third-person shooter, has already recruited one million players to sign up for the game.

"The team is really proud to have hit 1 million registrations at this early stage," said Ben Cousins, General Manager, Battlefield Heroes Team.

EA DICE announced early this year that it would be releasing a free, ad-subsidized version of its Battlefield franchise by summer. Sign-ups for the beta of this upcoming game have opened.
